JOB SUMMARY:
The afterschool activities coordinator designs, implements, and oversees innovative educational initiatives aimed at preparing students with essential skills for success in the modern world in the after-school environment. They develop and integrate cutting-edge teaching methods, technology, and curriculum to foster critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy among students. Additionally, they provide professional development opportunities for teachers, collaborate with stakeholders to align programs with educational goals, and assess the effectiveness of initiatives. This role requires a forward-thinking mindset, expertise in educational technology, strong leadership skills, and a passion for advancing 21st-century learning practices.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement a diverse range of engaging after-school activities, including academic support, arts and crafts, sports, and enrichment programs.
2. Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
3. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to assess student needs and interests and tailor program offerings accordingly.
4. Create and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
5. Monitor program budgets and resources, ensuring efficient use of funds and timely procurement of supplies.
6. Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback, staff observations, and data analysis, making adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.
7. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding program updates, student progress, and upcoming events.
8. Coordinate transportation and meal services as needed, ensuring smooth operation of program logistics.
9. Maintain accurate records of program attendance, expenses, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
10. Stay informed about best practices in after-school programming and youth development, participating in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
11. Develops plans in advance for in-school, after-school and summer recreation programs for K-12 students and adults intramurals.
12. Supervise after-school staff including certified teachers, and consultants, during the times they are on campus for after-school programs.
13. Coordinate all necessary professional development for after school program. Provide internal training for staff as needed.
14. Keeping complete and accurate records, including attendance records, financial records and all necessary documents.
15. Must submit annual performance reports and compile participation data on a regular basis.
16. Will prepare and distribute a calendar of events/activities to the community, teachers, parents, and students on what is to be offered during a particular month.
17. Conduct surveys regarding student, staff, and community interests to improve program.
18. Ensure all students are accountable during activities.
19. Establishing, maintaining, and supporting positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders involves clear communication, collaboration, and mutual respect.
20. Utilizing various communication channels, including social media, can enhance connectivity and engagement, fostering stronger connections and facilitating effective collaboration.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Will support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement.
2. Will have four (4) hours Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually.
3. Will have two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually.
4. Be in compliance and maintain confidentiality and proper storage of files according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Preferably BA degree in Education. Willingness to obtain additional training if needed.
2. Experience in working with teachers and principals on ways to improve the status of the school.
3. Ability to conduct staff development training in one or more areas related to After-school programming services, and ability to teach or team teach some of the classes offered through the program.
4. A committed and enthusiastic person with excellent management skills.
5. Must be fluent in speaking English and Navajo.
6. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the RPCS Policy and Procedures, and other reporting policies and procedures of the tribe, state, and federal government.
7. Must have minimal knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and its people for compliance in all aspects of educational programs.
8. Have current CPR & First Aid Certification and basic safety training.
9. Must have a valid government issued driver’s license or identification card.
10. Must have Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearances.
11. Must have a credit check.
