The Exceptional Student Services Department is hiring a part-time Transition Specialist to meet the Transition service needs of our students with IEPs who are 16 years or older as they prepare for post-secondary life. This role involves teaching transition classes on skills such as career exploration, post-secondary planning, and independent living. The specialist will also develop individualized transition goals, attend IEP meetings, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure effective planning and support.
Beyond classroom instruction, the Transition Specialist will guide students in work study programs, providing hands-on experience and mentorship to build workplace readiness and confidence. They will coordinate with employers, job coaches, and vocational agencies to create meaningful opportunities. By also managing tasks such as community-based instruction, vocational assessments, accessing community resources for adulthood benefits/services and family resource connections, the specialist will help ESS students successfully transition into adulthood.
The services will start August 18, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
Salary for certified staff is thirty-two dollars ($32) an hour for a weekly maximum of 28 hours total.
