Description | JOB SUMMARY: The Athletic Director oversees all aspects of athletic programs in a school district, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating events. They ensure compliance with regulations, promote sportsmanship, and support the development of student athletes both academically and athletically. Additionally, they may supervise coaching staff, manage facilities, and collaborate with school administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Program Management: • Develop and implement comprehensive athletic programs for students in grades K-12, encompassing a wide range of sports and activities. • Coordinate scheduling with compliance with AIA, NAIC, and elementary sports. Coordinates facility usage, transportation, and equipment needs for athletic events and practices. • Develops budget for all athletic programs, including contract, finances, and reviews athletic program for cost effectiveness. 2. Schedules all support services; game officials, emergency aides, security personnel, facilities, event staff, transportation, etc. 3. Reviews student eligibility list as outlined in the athletic handbook and provides counseling with students. 4. Facilitates the letterman program and booster club. 5. Develops and coordinates all program schedules for all AIA, NAIC, and Elementary sports. 6. Provides space, rooms, and equipment for all athletic activities. 7. Must review and revise policy and procedures as necessary. 8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards governing interscholastic athletics. 9. Leadership and Supervision: • Recruits coach staffing and coordinates training and supervision of coaching staff. 10. Must uphold athletic policy and procedures. 11. Reviews each coach job performance for improvement. 12. Reviews each athletic activity performance for improvement. 13. Reviews each athletic program’s effectiveness to support academic goals and objectives using student information system. 14. Always maintains a conducive learning environment and student safety. 15. Maintains appropriate credentials for athletic staff: certifications, endorsements, and health qualifications as required. 16. Maintains all “Child Protection” related policies and procedures. 17. Provide ongoing guidance, support, and evaluation to coaches, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to program goals and values. 18. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for all participants. 19. Community Engagement: • Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, parents, and community stakeholders to promote the value of athletics in education. • Act as a liaison between the school and local/regional athletic associations, fostering positive relationships and representing the school’s interests in league meetings and events. • Organize and promote opportunities for student-athletes to engage in community service and outreach initiatives. 20. Student Support: • Advocate for the holistic development of student-athletes, prioritizing academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being. • Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in navigating academic eligibility requirements, college recruitment processes, and other relevant aspects of their athletic journey. • Encourage a culture of academic excellence, emphasizing the importance of balancing athletic pursuits with scholastic achieve. 21. Develops and maintains positive rapport with students daily. 22. Provides counseling and effective communication with students on expectations, goals, and objectives. 23. Maintains professional and personal growth in educational trends. 24. Delivers high quality products and services in accordance with time schedules agreed upon or as required. 25. Willingly participates in group activities, such as meetings, in-service training, and committee work, performing in a thorough and complete fashion. 26. Provides leadership and cooperation with encouragement, guidance, respect and direction to team members as needed. 27. Prepares and submits monthly report to the School Board. 28. Facilitates Athletic Banquet at the end of the year (decorations, catering, awards, etc.) in collaboration with coaching staff. 29. Establishing, maintaining, and supporting positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders involves clear communication, collaboration, and mutual respect. 30. Utilizing various communication channels, including social media, can enhance connectivity and engagement, fostering stronger connections and facilitating effective collaboration. 31. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Will support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement. 2. Will have four (4) hours Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually. 3. Will have two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually. 4. Be in compliance and maintain confidentiality and proper storage of files according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Arizona Teaching Certification. 2. Must have five (5) years or more of supervisory responsibilities and experience. 3. Must have Fundamental of Coaching Certificate. 4. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the RPCS Policy and Procedures, and other reporting policies and procedures of the tribe, state, and federal government. 5. Must have minimal knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and its people for compliance in all aspects of educational programs. 6. Have current CPR & First Aid Certification and basic safety training. 7. Must have a valid government issued driver’s license or identification card. 8. Must have Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearance. 9. Must have a credit check. |
