JOB SUMMARY:

 

A Library Technician plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the school library and facilitating a conducive learning environment for students. Responsibilities include assisting students and teachers with locating and borrowing materials, managing library circulation systems, organizing, and shelving books, periodicals, and multimedia resources, and maintaining the library's cataloging and inventory systems. Additionally, they may assist with library programs and events, provide basic research assistance, and help maintain a clean and welcoming library space. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency in library management software, and a passion for promoting literacy and supporting the educational goals of the school community.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Create flex-access scheduling for staff and students.
  2. Maintain current circulation records.
  3. Troubleshoot several computer systems, such as databases, Internet access, word processor software, and library workstation computers.
  4. Assist in teaching research and study skills to students including internet safety and digital citizenship.
  5. Reshelve books according to filing systems.
  6. Maintain accurate material checkout records (multimedia)
  7. Inventory/Order books, periodicals, etc.
  8. Assist staff and students with computer training and usage.
  9. Assist in monitoring internet access by students and staff to ensure appropriate use.
  10. Assist with other duties to ensure student safety.
  11. Working with academic and administration staff in obtaining media materials.
  12. Coordinate programs related to literacy.
  13. Coordinate/Facilitate local book fair.
  14. Maintain purchase orders / records for Follett-Destiny and Sora/Overdrive.
  15. Establishing, maintaining, and supporting positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders involves clear communication, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  16. Utilizing various communication channels, including social media, can enhance connectivity and engagement, fostering stronger connections and facilitating effective collaboration.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Will support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement.
  2. Will have four (4) hours Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually.
  3. Will have two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually.
  4. Be in compliance and maintain confidentiality according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. AA degree or 60 college credit hours.
  2. Preferred experience in an educational setting.
  3. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the RPCS Policy and Procedures, and other reporting policies and procedures of the tribe, state, and federal government.
  4. Must have minimal knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and its people for compliance in all aspects of educational programs.
  5. Have current CPR & First Aid Certification and basic safety training.
  6. Must have a valid government issued driver’s license or identification card.
  7. Must have Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearance.
