DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Will support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement.
  2. Will have four (4) hours Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually.
  3. Will have two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually.
  4. Be in compliance and maintain confidentiality and proper storage of files according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
  5. Ensure that the bus can be operated safely before driving and conducts pre-trip safety inspections as required by federal and state laws to include observing visual defects and checking operating systems to include brakes, horn, lights, emergency flashers, extended stop arms, and door opening devices.
  6. Returns the bus to the assigned bus lot, performs a final inspection, and secures the bus according to procedures.
  7. Operates School Bus and transports students daily as assigned.
  8. Will participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required.
  9. Responsible to maintain a safe, clean and efficient transportation for all school children.
  10. Must possess the ability to interact with students, parents, and faculty in a positive and proper manner.
  11. Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to RPCS student handbook.
  12. Assists with supervision of students in the morning.
  13. Transports students, teachers and/or chaperones to scheduled activities, such as athletic events, field/class trips, etc.
  14. Complies and submits ISEP transportation mileage count during transportation count week.
  15. Exercises responsible leadership, proper communication, and appropriate behavior at all times.
  16. Responsible for scheduling and obtaining annual physical examination.
  17. Must take CDL Refresher courses and Physical Performance Test annually to maintain a valid Arizona School Bus Driver's Certification number.
  18. Responsible for maintaining a valid Arizona State CDL license, Class B or C with passenger and School Bus endorsement.
  19. Notifies the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure, safety deficiencies, or other incidents at all times.
  20. Responsible for minor repairs as needed for safety.
  21. Responsible for keeping his/her assigned school bus clean inside and outside.
  22. Transports bus to Farmington, Shiprock or Gallup for preventative maintenance and inspection as scheduled.
  23. Will record daily attendance and discipline on NASIS (Native American Student Information System). Participates in all required training.
  24. Will attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required.
  25. Must take and pass the Physical Performance Test.
  26. Must take and pass random Drug & Alcohol Tests.
  27. Must have an annual Physical Examination.
  28. Understand and relate to students with special needs.
  29. Assists in implementing emergency planning and response.
  30. Establishes, maintains, and supports positive and effective working relationships with all colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders including online communication, such as the usage of social media.
  31. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School diploma or equivalency.
  2. Must have AZ Commercial Driver License, Class B or C, with endorsements "P" and "S" and Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate.
  3. Must have updated knowledge of AZ Student Transportation regulations.
  4. Must have clean driving record for five years prior to application.
  5. Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, is required.
  6. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the RPCS Policy and Procedures, and other reporting policies and procedures of the tribe, state, and federal government.
  7. Must have minimal knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and its people for compliance in all aspects of educational programs.
  8. Have current CPR & 1st Aide Certification and basic safety training.
  9. Must have Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearance.
